The materials used in Maasai Treads products are consciously sourced. Our soles come from rejected car tyres and inner tubes.
These are rejected because of the slightest imperfection. After all, a tyre has to be flawless to make it onto your car.
For us, well, lets just say, it's the perfect situation. we then transform them into fashionable and functional footwear.
Our workshops use crafting methods that are unique to Maasai Treads. Each pair of sandals is hand-made with love and created with the utmost care.
We also buy previously owned leather, denim and any material we think will make a "sexy" piece of footwear.
We send our crews out to Kenya's bustling "Mitumba" markets, to find the funkiest colours, designs and material.
At the end of the day, it may be a long time before you "need" another pair, but when you do, we want it to be Maasai Treads.
